To our library Friends – thank you
This week marks National Friends of Libraries Week (October 20–26) — a special time set aside to honor the extraordinary work of Friends groups and library volunteers everywhere. At the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library Foundation, we want to shine a spotlight on the heart and soul of our library branches: the volunteer “Friends.” Across our library system, the Friends groups and individual volunteers support so much of what makes our libraries vibrant. They roll up their sleeves to raise funds, shelve books, plan events, deepen community ties, improve spaces and much, much more. Thanks to their time, energy and ideas, our libraries thrive.
To every Friends group member, every branch volunteer, every person who has supported a library fundraiser, helped recruit new members, or simply showed up with a smile — thank you. Your generosity of time and spirit strengthens our libraries and strengthens our community. Because of you, our libraries are places of discovery, connection, and growth for all of Fulton County. As we move into the next year, we’re excited to see what your efforts will make possible. Enjoy this week of recognition, and know how deeply appreciated you are.
Want to join the movement — or help grow it?
If you’re not yet part of a Friends group, now is a great moment to consider joining or supporting one. Friends groups amplify volunteer power, raise important funds, and advocate for their local branch.
