Inclusion at your library
Libraries are one of the few public spaces that everyone, regardless of background, can enter without cost or conditions.

Libraries play a vital role in promoting inclusion by providing resources, services, and spaces that cater to diverse communities and needs. Here are just a few ways Fulton County Libraries foster inclusion:
Accessible Resources and Services
- Multilingual materials: Our libraries offer books, media, and resources in multiple languages to serve immigrant and non-English-speaking populations.
- Assistive technology: Tools like screen readers, Zoomtext keyboards, large print books, and accessible websites ensure people with disabilities can access information. The Gladys Dennard at South Fulton Branch has a Digital Magnifier, and JAWS text software.
- Programs for people with disabilities: Many libraries provide services for individuals with physical, cognitive, or sensory disabilities, like sign language interpretation or sensory-friendly spaces. Did you know that the Georgia Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled is located at the Central Library through a partnership with the Georgia Public Library Service? Over 25 FulcoLibrary branch staff are GLS Ambassadors, and they assist patrons at various locations with filling out applications and providing resources and information.
Community Programs and Events
- Cultural events: Libraries host events that celebrate different cultures, histories, and traditions, such as Black History Month, Pride Month, or Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Check out the searchable event listing for something in your area.
- Safe spaces: Libraries create welcoming environments for LGBTQ+ individuals, offering resources and support groups.
- ESL and citizenship classes: English as a Second Language (ESL) and citizenship preparation classes help immigrants and refugees integrate into society.
Equitable Digital Access
- Free internet access: Our libraries provide free Wi-Fi, computers, and digital literacy training, helping bridge the digital divide for those who lack access to technology. You can even check out a Chromebook from the library to take home.
- Digital resource accessibility: Through eBooks, audiobooks, and online databases, libraries extend access beyond physical limitations, especially for people in underserved areas or those without access to transportation.
Social Services
- Partnerships: The Fulton County Library System partners with local nonprofits, schools, and cultural organizations to provide services like mental health resources, blood pressure kits, and educational programming.
- Social services: Our library system has a team of social workers who travel the county, directly assisting patrons with housing insecurity, unemployment and more.
All of the Fulton County Library branches were recently renovated with universal access in mind, ensuring that physical spaces are navigable for people with disabilities, the elderly, and parents with strollers.
Libraries are for everyone! By creating environments that prioritize inclusion and equal access to information and resources, libraries help build stronger, more inclusive communities for Fulton County.
